I believe that Cress was the younger brother of Charles.
It is interesting to note the decorative pattern on the fingerboard and peghead of the earlier
Cress banjo, somewhat echoing the design style of his brother. The later Cress Unger
banjo is, in every way, a modern banjo. The neck is near the quality of later
Fairbanks/Vega banjos. Of note here is the 6-string tailpiece, possibly a holdover
from the 6-string banjos by his brother.
